- 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
- 1⁄3 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs
- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1⁄2 teaspoon salt

PECAN FILLING
- 1 large egg white
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups finely chopped pecans
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3⁄4 teaspoon salt
directions
- Preheat oven to 350*.
- Put sugar, crisco and water in heavy pan and heat to boiling, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and add chocolate and vanilla.Beat in eggs, one at a time, set aside.
- Sift flour, baking soda and salt, gradually stir into chocolate mixture --
- Using slightly dampened hands, spread 3/4 of the batter into a greased 8" square pan.and then spread with PECAN FILLING:.
- Beat egg white till foamy, add water and vanilla and gradually beat in sugar.set aside.
- Mix together pecans, flour and salt and fold into egg mixture.
- top with remaining batter and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool --
- Cut into 2" squares.

I love cooking, and reading Christian fiction..I have 5 grandchildren..4 boys and 1 spoiled granddaughter...I also have a black cocker spaniel named Tobey..who is very spoiled..Love computer games, cross stitch and reading cookbooks..I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia almost a year ago, on September 26, 2005....was in an out of the hospital for 8 months, doing intensive chemo...I am doing well now, thanks for all the prayers...
