Oriental Ramen Cole Slaw Salad

"This is an excellent recipe I got from my grandmother who has been making this for years. It's always a hit, especially at potlucks. Even my husband likes it and he isnt a cole slaw eater! Instead of sunflower seeds cashews can be added as a variation."

  1. I substitute sliced almonds for the sunflower seeds and add green onions. This is always a big hit at family and work get togethers!

  2. This is a great recipe when you're looking for something a little different from the usual pasta/potato salads. I have made this many times and always get compliments. I substitute sliced almonds for the sunflower seeds. I toast the almonds and the broken up ramen, with 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat 'til they are a nice light brown.

  3. I have been making this for almost 15 years.. the only difference is I use the BEEF Flavored Ramen,, and I make the dressing the night before so the sugar has time to meld in with the oil etc. has ALWAYS been a BIG hit at BBQ's in the summer... :)

  4. I had this at a party years ago and finally found a great recipe to replace that awesome memory of flavors. Only change I made was to top off with chicken for a complete meal.

  5. I love this recipe. I have made it several times for family gatherings and its always a big hit. The only difference in mine was the addition of green onions and shredded rotisserie chicken.

I'm a stay at home mommy with 3 great kids. I've lived in Minnesota all my life. Hubby and I have just bought our first house, it's exciting!! When I'm not experimenting in the kitchen, I love to paint. And paint. And paint some more. Now if I can find a way to bring both my hobbies together... hmmm... My favorite cookbook is my good old faithful Betty Crocker cookbook that my mother gave me when I moved out on my own. It's by far my fave because the recipes are basic, and you can pronounce all the ingredients and have most of them in your kitchen anyway. But Rachael Ray has some great ones too. Love that woman, she's the best!
