ingredients
- 1 lb dry great northern bean
- 5 1⁄2 cups chicken broth
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 large white onion
- 1 tablespoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 7 ounces diced green chilies
- 5 cups diced cooked chicken
- 1 3⁄4 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon diced jalapeno
- shredded monterey jack cheese (garnish)
- sliced black olives (garnish)
- sour cream
- diced avocado (garnish)
- chopped green onion (garnish)
directions
- Cook the beans according to their instructions. Drain and rinse.
- Add beans, all spices, onion and garlic to 5 1/4 cups chicken broth.
- Cover and simmer for an hour.
- Stir in green chilies, jalepenos, diced chicken and the 1 3/4 cups chicken broth.
- Cover and simmer another hour.
