- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄2 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup milk
directions
- Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl and make a "well" (indentation) in the center.
- Pour the oil and hot water into the dry ingredients and mix to incorporate.
- Mix milk & eggs together in a separate bowl, then combine with the other ingredients.
- NOTE: The cake batter is more liquid than the batter from a box mix.
- Pour batter into a greased & floured cake pan (oblong, or two round pans) and bake 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
