  1. I love making baked beans and this was another good version, a nice no-fuss crock pot method. I made exactly as written, including dried beans, soaked and cooked, and pure maple syrup. I found the amount of liquid was bang on, and I let it cook on low for 6 hours - the beans had the most perfect texture. My young diners really enjoyed this with some simple bread and butter. For my own tastes I found it too sweet, so even though it might sacrifice that lovely maple flavour, I'd be tempted to cut that back a bit next time....but that's just me, as I say the others really liked that sweet aspect. Thanks Katzen! Made for Veg*n Swap tag.

  2. I didn't get the rich baked bean flavor out of this recipe at all. <br/>I ended up really having to doctor up this recipe for our BBQ

  3. We loved this recipe! I used canned beans only because I didn't have the time to soak dried beans and then make this recipe too. Made for Veg 'N Swap tag!

  4. This is a nice easy recipe! I thought there was a little too much water and will cut back next time. I used mostly canned cooked soy beans and some navy beans. Thank you!

I'm a now vegan who used to make one heck of a souvlaki. I love cooking, I was a huge fan of Moosewood and Molly Katzen prior to going vegan (although that has nothing to do with my choosing the name Katzen - that's just what my German Grandma has called me all my life.) Aside from cooking, I also love scuba diving, cycling, politics, and reading.
