John Ed's Ground Beef Casserole

"NOTE: This recipe has been updated! This was Elswet's Papaw's "Saturday Afternoon" recipe. He prepared it himself, often. He said it was an old Navy recipe he remembered from WWII, and it was one of his favorite dishes. It has a slight pizza taste, which makes it a favorite among kids, is very easy to assemble, and gives you hands free cooking. NOTE: This recipe has been adjusted, slightly. ;)"

  1. Love this! All 3 kiddos and hubby go back for seconds and thirds (and that says a lot when it comes to hubby!!! lol) Have already made this quite a few times and will continue to do so! Thanks a ton for this easy, family pleasin' recipe!! =o)
  2. This is a great recipe for when you're short on $$ and ingredients. H2B made a half recipe for just us in a 9x9 baking dish with very good results (and leftovers!) He would like to add something spicy next time and I like everything with more garlic! We came to the conclusion that it tastes like the inside of a cabbage roll! Thanx for the recipe, we will be making this again!
  3. We loved this - I can't eat cheese and it was just delicious without it - so easy and so yummy. My favorite part is that I don't have to cook the ground beef first!!! Thanks for posting - I'm making it again this week!
  4. This was pretty good, though I'll make a few changes the next time I make it. Specifically, I'd cut the hamburger to half a pound so that it's not so meatloaf-ish, add a second can of corn, and add a bit more tomato sauce and a second layer of bacon.
  5. Very easy to make! yummy and simple meal. Needed some hot sauce for a bit of spice. Next time, I would cook onions first as they were still raw after the full 1 1/2 of cooking.

Once known as KytchenWytch. Both my Wife and i love to cook, and we love to eat, so our premium membership with this site is a partnership made by the Gods. i am a short order cook by trade, and my Wife is a published movie reviewer. We both administrate our small non profit from home, which allows us to cook more often than other couples, but we still don't have a lot of time to prepare complicated meals. RecipeZaar is the best for anyone who wants a quick recipe, or needs to learn about a complicated piece of kitchen equipment...and anything in between. :) We LOVE it here! my sweet Wife has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. i'm still learning how to cook for Her, so that Her Forever will pace with mine. i change my user name often. sorry, but i bore easily. oh, and just to warn people, i've donated my hair to locks for love, so it's short now ... VERY short. new photos will come soon. About my Icons my darling Wife took Her personal time to WitchCraft these for me. ;) She's the best. She's the greatest. She's my whole heart.
