- 2 cups white cornmeal
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1⁄3 cup shortening
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2⁄3 cup whole milk
directions
- Mix thoroughly, cook in hot cast iron skillet, with small amount of grease, on top of stove for 3 minutes. Finish cooking in hot oven (500 degrees) for 13 minutes, then brown under broiler.
