Homemade Nacho Cheese Sauce

"This is a revision of a recipe that I found on this site. The former recipe called six pounds of cheese so I broke the recipe down and added other ingredients for flavor. This makes enough for a family of four to six. Regular Velveeta makes a nice sauce for vegetables."

  1. i tried this recipe, and it was way too thin. the only change i made was i used all milk and no cream. i ended up adding an extra 3/4 lb of velveta cheese and it was still way too thin. i added 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese and still way too thin to be a dip. i ended up calling it quits on the dip and made a mac and cheese sauce. maybe the problem i had was because of the milk, but i would think that after adding that much cheese it would have been ok.

  2. Just like cheese dip out of jar!

  3. The flavor was pretty good even though I'm not a fan of Velveeta (I think this is the first time I've ever bought it or had it in my house). The consistency was a little thin, though, so I'm not going to use quite so much cream next time.

  4. I made cheese fries with this sauce and they were pretty good. thanks for the recipe.

  5. I made this last night to put on tacos. Followed the recipe exactly as written(using Velveeta Mexican Cheese) and it turned out great! My whole family loved it! We also made sure to have plenty of Dorito Corn Chips for dipping, we couldn't stop eating it! The only variation I will try next time will be to add a 4 oz. can of jalapenos to give it a kick. Thank you Ms Kitty for your wonderful contribution to to my recipe collection.
