Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread - Abm

"Found on some long-forgotten internet site but I had noted it was submitted by a lady named Erna Walmsley. Thanks, Erna! This is a great bread with lots of seeds. Sometimes I grind half the flax seeds and/or toast the sunflower seeds."

 1. Just yummy. Yes, it needs some seasoning but the contrast between the crunch of the coating and the tenderness of the livers is exquisite.

 2. Sensational taste and texture, a new favorite. Used all ground flax seed and fresh ground hard red wheat flour. Based on reviews I increased the yeast to 2 tsp with great result.

 3. I have made this twice now. The first was a bit too dense so I added about 1 tbs of VWG and an extra 1 tsp of yeast. Made it rise just right for me and the kids. I also didn't have sunflowers so I used all Flax but I ground 1/2 cup. I have 3 boys all under the age of 8 and they all loved it. It is a keeper here.

 4. This is one of my favorite bread machine recipes. Our bread was not rising as much as we liked, so we added about a tablespoon of gluten and one more teaspoon of yeast. This is a keeper!

I am a stay-at-home-mom, or rather, drive-around-in-the-minivan mom to DS7, DD6, DD5 and DS1. DH is lactose intolerant so I have learned to work around that in my recipes. I started baking cookies and such when I was about 9, and cooking daily suppers when I was 13 so I have been in the kitchen for a good percentage of my life already. It's a good thing that it's my favourite place to be! My favourite appliance is a rice cooker, with the Kitchenaid mixer running a close second. DH bought a Traeger wood pellet barbecue for Mother's Day a few years ago and it is amazing. I almost always wear an apron in the kitchen because I'm a sloppy cook and stained too many shirts. My favourite is from www.ashtongreen.com, a Canadian website that sells great kitchen stuff.
