I followed your recipe to a tee sans alcohol. What I did add, however was two tablespoons of a high grade balsamic vinegar. I love the flavour of caramelised balsamic vinegar. When I poured the sauce and bananas onto the ice cream within a minute the sauce was the consistency of the top of a crème brûlée. Not good. What happened? I was mortified as I had a new friend over and I wanted to impress him.

This recipe has great bones, but do yourself a favor and cut the brown sugar in half or you might have a problem with the sugar getting hard when poured over ice cream. I also cut the cinnamon in half...and of course added 1-1.5 ounces of rum and set it on fire- flambé! It was absolutely delicious as modified.

I wanted something sweet and yummy! This easy little recipe was the answer... I did not have ice cream so served it over plain yogurt... not as good as serving with ice cream, but it satisfied my sweet craving! Prepared for the Recipes without Photos Tag game March 2013<br/>And... the rum is a must when making Bananas Foster...IMHO!

Grew up in South Louisiana (yup. A Cajun.) Lived in Texas and Alabama (Tex-Mex and Cornbread too...) I can make a real roux, family raises crawfish, and I can speak enough French to get my face slapped. My friends claim we could go on Survivor and gain weight (Us Cajuns, we'll eat anything, put enough Tabasco on it).
