Crunchy Mint Biscotti for Dogs

"I found this recipe in the Feb 2006 issue of Dogs In Canada. I make these "cookies" for my dog frequently and she absolutely loves them! You can make them smaller or larger, depending on what size treat you like to give your dog. The ingredients are simple and pure, and these will keep for weeks, but I doubt you will have them for that long :)"

directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix flour, bran or germ, milk powder and mint in a large bowl.
  • Add water and oil; stir to soft dough.
  • Shape the dough into a log about 9-10 inches long.
  • Roll the dough log in the extra bran/germ and transfer to an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten to about 4-5 inches wide.
  • Bake 30 min - log should be firm. Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Change oven temperature to 300°F.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 1/2-inch biscotti strips.
  • Place the strips upright on the cookie sheet, spaced about a half inch. Bake for 30 minutes. Do not remove from oven.
  • Turn oven off, but leave the cookies in the oven to become hard as they cool.
