Country French Skillet Chicken

"This is a quick and easy recipe that packs a punch, flavor-wise. Simple for a weeknight dinner or good enough for company! I don't remember where I got this recipe, but it was likely in a magazine. I serve it with pasta. A favorite at my house!"

  • Season chicken breasts with seasoning salt and garlic powder. Melt butter and add chicken. Brown chicken till golden, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • While chicken is searing, mix water and soup mix in a bowl. When chicken is browned, add soup mixture to skillet, bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 7-10 minutes depending on thickness of chicken, (until chicken is no longer pink.).
  • Transfer chicken to a plate, add sour cream to sauce in skillet, (I use the full 1 cup), and return chicken to skillet and warm through.

  1. The flavor here is spot on! I had to use small frozen chicken breasts, so decreased the cook time a bit. This makes a lot of sauce, so I served with crusty French bread to sop up the sauce. This is quick and easy to make, and a recipe I will make and enjoy again!

One of the old time founding members of Recipezaar. I live in Port Orchard, Washington. I LOVE to cook and bake nearly everything! I HATE to see people join the site, have no published recipes, but rag on another cook in a review on a recipe they haven't even tried or didn't follow. Oh, and I hate cilantro, too. :)
