This recipe is fabulous. I wanted to double the recipe so I doubled the spices and added a can of tomato paste and water until it was the consistency I wanted. I also didn't add the salt called for and was very pleased with the flavor without it. There are so many spices it's just not necessary IMO. Also as 1 reviewer noted why add a can of chili to make chili? I'm not sure what that does for it since you are adding so many wonderful spices. The next time I make it I will just use more tomato paste and go from there. I made this ahead of time for a prayer meeting we are having and it's fabulous still on day 2. I also user Nathan's Bun Length Franks which I put in the chili sauce to cook while it simmered. Very tasty! Simmering for 1 hr would actually probably be sufficient though. Will be serving this on whole wheat buns & with Cheddar Cheese sprinkled on top with a green salad on the side.
