- 1 (3 lb) roasting chickens, cut in pieces
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (NOT garlic salt!)
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 large onions, sliced in 1/2-inch rings
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3⁄4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1⁄4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Sprinkle chicken pieces with garlic and black pepper.
- Lay onion rings in bottom of a casserole. Place chicken on top.
- In a bowl, combine ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, brown sugar and onion soup mix. Pour over chicken and onions. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake in preheated oven 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 30 minutes or until cooked through.
