  • Brown ground beef in an large pan or skillet.
  • Add onion, celery, garlic and peppers (optional).
  • Saute 5 minutes.
  • Drain grease, I pour my into a large colander.
  • Add chili powder, start with 1 T, you can always add more later! Sometimes I grate in a zucchini into the chili, too add a veggie!
  • Add salt and pepper.
  • Pour in all the tomatoes and drained kidney beans.
  • Cook 2-3 hours to let the flavor develop.
  • Add in more chili powder if you desire.
  • Stir in the masa/cornmeal and water together and mix into the chili to thicken.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings - ours are Fritos, onions and shredded cheddar!
