Superb Banana Nut Bread

"Another one my mom always made when I was growing up. I love it when it's still warm with a little butter spread on a slice. I have also used this recipe to make mini-loaves which I gave away at Christmas, and they were a big hit."

  1. This is by far the best Banana Bread I have ever had! It is very moist. I doubled the recipe, then I used 6 mini loaf pans and cooked for 40 minutes. They were very brown on the outside and I was worried that I had over cooked them, but they tasted terrific, and the crust was amazing.

  2. I am not a baker but tried this recipe for the first time last night and it was EXCELLENT! I was so happy that everyone enjoyed them. With the given recipe, I used two small aluminum loaf pans and baked them for 40 minutes instead. Yummy!!! Moist and delicious! I shared the recipe with my sister as she wanted it! :)

Tweaks

  1. Omigosh! I have made many a banana nut bread before but this is by far the best recipe I found. I too used butter instead of crisco. Thought maybe it was going to be too moist..but it wasn't! Lovely in the evening with a cup of hot tea! This is a bonified keeper! Thanks so much AlabamaGirl from another Bamagal!!

  2. This is yummy banana nut bread! Really moist and good. I used margarine instead of shortening, and I had 5 bananas so I doubled the recipe and made 2 loaves. Good thing too. The first one disappeared while it was still warm.

  3. Finally! A banana nut bread recipe that is moist enough that it doesn't even need butter on it to taste delicious. Love this recipe -- made it with butter instead of Crisco and it's fabulous!

  4. I have made banana bread for years, and I mean years, and lost my original recipe. What a break for me! To get the moistness that this recipe has, I always had to have a wet center so it wouldn't be dry. Besides being super moist the outer part is crusty when first done. I only changed one thing, and that was using butter instead of crisco (I didn't have any). I have made my husband about 10 of these loaves in the last two months and he can't seem to get enough. Thanks so much Lori, it is the best ever!
