Baked Caramel Popcorn

"This has been a tradition in our family for YEARS. Posting for safe keeping. I usually up the popcorn to 10 qts. and make 1 1/2 recipe of coating. Just depends on how coated you like the corn!"

• Yields: 15 cups
• Serves: 10-12

ingredients

• 8 -9 quarts popped corn
• 2 cups brown sugar
• 1 cup butter
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1⁄2 cup white corn syrup
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda

directions

1. Pop corn.
2. Melt brown sugar and butter.
3. Add salt, white syrup and boil for 5 minutes.
4. Add 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp soda.
5. Pour over popcorn and stir well.
6. Put in 250 degree oven and stir every 15 minutes for one hour.
7. When out of the oven make sure you stir every 5 minutes to keep kernels from sticking together.
