  • Dissolve chocolate in boiling water and set aside.
  • Cream the butter, shortening and sugar and sift the dry ingredients together.
  • Add alternately with buttermilk and add chocolate and chopped apple.
  • This makes 3 big layers.
  • Bake at 375 for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Cook and frost with ambrosia filling.
  • Ambrosia Filling:.
  • Cook to soft ball stage:

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups milk.
  • Then add and beat well:.
  • 1/2 lb oleo.
  • 1/4 tespoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder.
  • After beating add:.
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen coconut.
  • 1 cup chopped pecans.
  • 1 samll can crushed pineapple.
  • 1 orange, sectioned.
  • 1 cup raisins.
