Sunday Night Ham, Banana and Cheese Dish (Very Old Recipe)

- 6 bananas (just-ripe and fat)
- 6 slices ham, nice quality
- 2 teaspoons cornflour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
- salt and pepper
directions
- Oven: 350 F/180 deg Celsius.
- Roll a ham slice around each banana.
- Put into a greased oven dish.
- Make a white sauce by mixing together the cornflour, mustard, butter and milk, and adding some salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring to a boil while stirring. Cover the bananas and ham with the white sauce.
- Sprinkle over the grated cheddar. Bake until pale golden brown.
