  1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until coarse. Mix in water until smooth. Knead lightly. Roll out and cut into squares. Fry until golden in HOT oil.

I was really looking for a recipe that would make a small amount since they would just be for my husband and me. This recipe was absolutely perfect! Thank you. I actually added a TBS of sugar since I like my dough to be sweet and I was confused by the two water amounts and ended up adding both. So this recipe really should read 6 TBS of water. But fabulous recipe - they puffed and were delicious.
