Simple Iced Tea

"I got this from Nathalie DuPree years ago. It's the best iced tea EVER, and keeps for weeks. The "20" servings is a guess. It depends on the size of your glass; how strong you like your tea; how much ice you use, etc."

  • I use a little tea kettle for this. I put water in the kettle, and then add the tea bags and get the water to boiling. Take the kettle off the heat, and add the baking soda (it will foam over so make sure it's not over the burner or too full). Let it set and cool off.
  • I put mine in a pitcher in the fridge (some times with ice; some times just as is). It's almost black in color, and very strong. You need maybe 1 tbs. in a glass of water/ice, depending on how strong you want your tea. It keeps, without having that nasty taste, for well over a week (i've actually kept it almost 2 weeks and it's still delicious). Just remember it's VERY strong, and you need very, very little added to your water.

  2. this is really good tea! I have to say I was a little skeptical about using a tablespoon or two but believe it or not it is perfect! I made the tea just as bliss's recipe and will be making this way from now on. thanks bliss.

  3. I love this tea! What a great recipe. It's easy to make and the best part is that it keeps for days in the refrigerator. I made a batch about a week ago and it still tastes wonderful. Thank you Bliss for posting this recipe. I'll be using it from now on to make iced tea.

  4. You've got my vote. I've long been a fan of solar iced tea, not anymore. This is not only great tea but it is very handy as well. One day you don't drink much tea at all and the next you can't drink it fast enough. That's where this concentrate excels, it stores in the fridge for days before it gets stale or bitter. If you don't drink it today, it will be fine tomarrow or the next day. Thanx for posting htis great recipe. Pierre

  5. Thank you so much. I used 2 family sized tea bags and stored it in a squeeze bottle in the fridge. This is fabulous and so much more convenient. It tastes better and lasts longer; what more could you ask? The iced tea machine is going in the garage sale box today to make room for another 'gadget' on the countertop.

The little cutie here is Martha, the sweet lady I was blessed to have worked with for two years. Martha passed away on 12/3/08. Martha and I would ride endlessly during the holidays, and she would sing carols and laugh and just enjoy it so much. I know this holiday season, she will be with her brother, son and mother and finally be "home". Martha, I still love you more. ******* I'm a simple girl, born of good stock. I'm the mamma of two spoiled tuxedo cats: Beauregard and Patches (the one who's been drinking eggnog). They love cuddling together, and this picture is taken on my hall steps. I'm a firm believer in LOA. I need to get more dedicated to daily practice. Below is a film that explains it, and is wonderful. I highly recommend it. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* This is Beau enjoying his computer. He's quite good at deleting messages, making the desktop disappear (as is his brother). As of 10/1/06, this is how I'll rate recipes. I will be changing some previous reviews. 5*~~Outstanding recipe--the best of the best here. 4*~~Something I find delicious; will make often; would serve to guests. 3*~~Something I might fix again; enjoyed; needed something added before I try again 2*~~Something I could finish, but would never try again, regardless of additions or subtractions 1*~~Could not finish it; would not even make possums suffer with this (I haven't found many of these--only one of my own that I grabbed from the internet!!)
