Recipe comes from Nestle. The pumpkin flavor is subtle. I have completely omitted the allspice many times and still gotten good results.

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly spray a 9-inch-square baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, pumpkin, egg, egg whites and oil. Beat until blended.
  3. Add flour, baking powder, cocoa, cinnamon, allspice, salt: beat until batter is smooth.
  4. Stir in morsels. Spread into prepared pan.
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack.
  6. Cut into squares when cooled.

Mild and cakey, these get 5 stars for also being a healthy lunchbox treat that's quick to make. Had to bake mine longer. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

A very tasty, and low fat, treat!! I found that the amount of allspice was fine IF you doubled the amount of cocoa powder. I just felt that 1 tsp wouldn't quite do it. We were very pleased with the results! Thanks for sharing.

I actually made these brownies last night (from the exact same recipe off of verybestbaking.com) and they are VERY good. However, they have just a little bit too much "spice" in them, so maybe reduce the allspice to 1/4 tsp or so. Good stuff!
