Great bread, nice texture and taste. I omitted the dry milk (didn't have any) soaked the onions in the water for 10 minutes to soften them, used 2 tsp of bread machine yeast and put it in my bread machine that only holds up to 1 1/2 lb loaves and it baked up beautifully. Loved the little bit of sweetness and it was great with a hearty soup. Thanks, Carole in Orlando

This is great! DH loves really dark rye bread, so I added 2 Tbl of instant coffee granules and used 1 tsp of onion powder because that was all I had. I also threw in (as I do with all earthy flour-breads) 2 Tbl of wheat gluten, and took it out on the 3rd rise to finsih in a pan for a perfectly formed loaf. Slashing this one was key because of it's density.
