Nif's Cure for Stinky Onion Fingers

"Do your fingers stink like onions after you handle them? I had to list the ingredients the way that I did because I couldn't list the knife. I have never used lemon, but it can't hurt! :) You won't believe how well this works! It usually takes away the smell of garlic too. You can use a dull butter knife but if you are not comfortable using a knife, you can use some other resources of stainless steel. Enjoy!"

directions

  • Wash hands after handling onions.
  • Under cold running water, rub the side of your knife along and between your fingers and over the rest of hands. If you are using a sharp knife - BE CAREFUL! I run the knife along with the blunt side leading and have never been cut!

  1. Good idea using a stainless steel knife, but even safer, and cheaper than buying something - use running water over the division between your stainless steel kitchen sinks, rub your hands on either side, strong smells will disappear like magic.

  2. Fortunately for fumble-fingered folks like me, any stainless steel object will work. I use a large spoon. It's surprising, but this really works. Thanks for posting!

  3. The stainless steel trick really works, but I use my stainless "soap" bar. For difficult odors, such as strong garlic, add lemon or vinegar. The knife sounds a little risky for me, since I tend to cut myself often!! The cold water works better than hot...something I hadn't tried before. Thanks for sharing!

I love great food and I particularly like trying cuisines new to me! Although I don't prepare as much food as I used to, creating in my kitchen is still one of my favourite things to do. Enjoy!
