Marzipankugeln - German Marzipan Balls

Marzipankugeln are an absolute necessity for me during the Christmas season. They are a very quick and simple homemade treat.


  1. Take the marzipan paste (douse with a little rum if you wish) and form into small balls; roll in cocoa powder.
  2. Done.
  3. A very nice gift for nice neighbors, your friendly postman -- or for yourself.

This is how we always made marzipan at Christmas (but without the rum - which I will be adding next time). My mom also poked little holes with a toothpick in some of them. The rest she would use the blunt side of a paring knife blade and press a triangle shape into the marzipan. She called them Marzipan Kartoffel.
