A great spread for pita bread or celery or other veggies or to use with Middle Eastern dishes.
- 1 (19 ounce) can chickpeas, drained
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1⁄2 teaspoon cumin
- 1 dash hot pepper sauce
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- Put all ingredients in a food processor and puree together until smooth. Transfer to a food saver container and keep in fridge to use as needed. I always put a piece of plastic wrap over the top of the food processor, thus eliminating the need to wash that part of the machine!
ate this for lunch today, used regular olive oil instead of sesame and you cant really tell the difference. very good stuff.
I've only tasted shop bought humous which I didn't like, but this was lovely! The cumin gave it a lovely flavour. I didn't have any pepper sauce to add but it was lovely without it. I know I'm going to find this addictive!
