directions

  • Fold a terry cloth towel (16 inches long and 8 inches wide) into quarters (about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide) Pat it evenly to cover the bottom of a loaf pan. Pour water over the towel until it is completely saturated. Then sprinkle mustard seeds on top in a single layer. Cover with aluminum foil and leave overnight. Remove the foil and place the loaf pan in a warm sunny place. Make sure the towel stays wet but not covered with water. The seeds will sprout and send roots into the towel. The plants will grow about an inch high with tiny green leaves, purple on the undersides with long thin stems. Harvest the crop 10 to 20 days after you plant it. Snipping the plants off at the base with scissors. Garden Cress can also be grown this way.
