  • 34 - 1 cup salad oil
  • 1 package ranch dressing mix
  • 14 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 12 - 1 teaspoon dill weed
  • 14 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 -16 ounces oyster crackers

directions

  • Mix salad oil and dressing mix together.
  • Add remaining ingredients and stir to coat.
  • Place in a warm oven for 15-20 minutes.

  1. I doubled the batch using two bags of oyster crackers (Aldis brand) and two cups each of broken thin pretzels, cheat chex and rice chex and one cup of roasted peanuts. I used slightly less oil ... the result was well loved by all!!

  1. This is a classic: easy and addictive. I do substitute butter-flavored popcorn popping oil (Orville Redenbacher brand, but there are others) for the salad oil, and use about 1/3 C of oil to a 12-ounce package of generic brand oyster crackers. Otherwise, no changes (oh, okay, I don't actually measure the dill, lemon pepper, and garlic powder, and may go a bit overboard on all three of them). Simply delicious!
     
  2. These are delicious! The only reason I am giving them 4 stars and not 5 is because I think that there is too much oil. I will do about 1/2 the amount of oil next time and see how it turns out. Otherwise, I will be making these again.
     
  3. Just like I remembered! I omitted lemon pepper, added dill weed and lots of parmesan, and baked till the crackers were almost brown. Thanks for posting a childhood memory. I love these!
     
  4. Delicious! I actually substituted fried chicken wings for the oyster crackers, and then instead of the Ranch seasoning and other flavorings I dipped them in hot sauce. Then I ate them dipped in Bleu Cheese dressing. A real keeper!
     
  5. Love them. Used 1/2 cup oil and baked at 250 for about 30 minutes.

Tweaks

  1. I made this per the directions above and it was terrible! Nothing like the great snack we used to enjoy. After throwing the whole batch away, I realized you need to use butter instead of oil. Especially if you are using it to make the oyster crackers. I made a second batch, with butter, and it was delicious.
     
  2. I followed anonymous' advice, but instead of using fried chicken I used beef ribs because I don't really like chicken. I didn't have any blue cheese on hand so I used soy sauce. I don't think I will make this again.

  4. Just made two batches of this recipe. Very easy and quick. Taste yummy warm! Will definitely make again! Used a blend of canola and olive oil in place of salad oil since that is what I have. Thank you tickled pink!
     
  5. These are great. I didn't use all the oil that was called for (just 1/3 cup) and it turned out just fine. Substituted the lemon pepper with 1/2 t. of chili pwdr, and upped the garlic powder a little. Good party snack.
