Easy Modelling Clay

"I found this recipe on a website called squiglysplayhouse.com while I was trying to help my kids with a school project. We were trying to create a medieval church. It is a simple recipe that takes very little time and costs a lot less to make than buying modelling clay."

  1. Easy to make & easy to clean up. We made hand & foot prints with this and it worked great. I had to watch these bake though because the dough got some air bubbles that needed to be popped before the dough hardened.

  2. My son had fun making different shapes and painting them.

  3. This really is a great recipe. In europe, we call this kind of dough Salt Dough, Saltzteig or Saltdeig. Experiment a little with adding more oil to make it supple - if you add too much, just add flour to dry it out a bit again. Wall-hanging sculptures are really fun to make, but you can also make standing people or things.

  4. This turned out wondfull. We had alot of fun with it. I found if we made the shapes to thick we had to cook them a bit longer. I did turn some of them over after the tops where cooked,to cook the bottom just a bit. Had fun and will keep having fun with this. Thanks Kate..... Sheila
