Chef-Boy-I-Be-Illinois' Maple Stewed Apples

Stewed apples are a marvelous side dish for pork, or a wonderful dessert served with some low fat vanilla yogurt. Your kitchen will smell like you are baking a pie, but without the crust. Use any type apple your prefer. I had red delicious on hand, so that's what got used. And use real maple syrup. My partner and I enjoyed these with Chef-Boy-I-Be-Illinois' Pork Tenderloin Rosa Di Parma

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Bring apples, syrup, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon to a simmer and simmer covered until apples are tender 10-15 minutes.
  2. Combine cornstarch and apple juice and add to stewed apples to thicken the sauce.
  3. Serve warm.

WOW!!! Did this ever hit the spot. The aroma filled the house and we couldn't wait to dig in. I served this with ham but you can use these apples for a variety of dishes including as a dessert. Thanks for sharing, Chef-Boy-I-Be Illinois. It is a WINNER!!!!
