Really good frosting. I used all dulce de leche and doubled it so the flavor would stand out. It did plain, but gets a little bit lost on the cake. I also omitted the powdered sugar, we didn't mind that that made it softer, that was our preference over making it any sweeter. It went very well with chocolate cake.

  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon dulce de leche, room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons caramel sauce, room temperature


  1. Beat the butter, then mix in the dulce de leche until smooth.
  2. Beat in the caramel sauce and then the powdered sugar.
