Cappuccino Banana Smoothie

"I have edited this recipe, after months and months (and months) of making and perfecting smoothie recipes. All through last autumn to this spring. By summer, they'll be perfect. I hope you like this low calorie shake, it's gone through alot of testing! By the way, I only use half a banana to cut down on a few calories, but if you want the whole banana, go right ahead!"

directions

  • Place banana chunks into bottom of blender, cover with sugar substitute, then add cocoa powder, and 2 ice cubes (or all the crushed ice).
  • Separately, mix skim milk with instant coffee (or espresso powder) and vanilla extract. Pour into blender and blend on low until the contained ice is fully mixed in and smooth.
  • If using ice cubes, add the remaining 3-4 and blend until no chunks are left.

  1. Scaled this back to 1 and made for the DM and she really enjoyed her Banana Smoothie with pizzazz though I did not add any sugar as the banana was rather sweet in inself. Thank you CafeAmaimonotsuki, made for Comfort Cafe.

  2. Delicious! I didn't have instant coffee on hand, so I left that ingredient out and added a handful of blueberries instead. Very nice subtle chocolately banana flavor. It's a great smoothie that I'll be making again! In the mean time I'm off to check out your other recipes!

  3. A great tasting smoothie wih just a hint of banana flavor. I have to agree with mikekey, this is a thin smoothie and a whole banana would help thicken it. Maybe freeze the banana or add a few more ice cubes also. I used two teaspoons of cocoa powder, 6 ice cubes, real sugar, and omitted the 2 tablespoons of water. The froth on top of the smoothie was nice, reminded me of my favorite coffee drinks. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. Made and reviewed for Spring 2009 PAC.

  4. This tasted great, but I did NOT add the water, and still found it to be a bit thin. I would use a whole banana to help thicken it a bit. I used espresso powder and unsweetened cocoa. As stated in the description, it would lend itself well to variations, such as a splash of sugar-free flavored coffee syrups (i.e. raspberry or caramel).
