    Alicia W's Note:

I've tried many, many bread recipes, and this is the best roll recipe I've come across. It's super fast, super easy, and you'd have to try hard to mess it up. The easiest way to get the perfect temperature water for your yeast is to do 1 part boiling water to 2 parts cold. Perfect every time!

    rolls

    Units: US | Metric

    Directions:

    1. 1
In a small bowl, mix milk with water. Add sugar, yeast, and butter. Stir until yeast is dissolved and set aside for 10 minutes or until yeast has foamed up a bit.
    2. 2
In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Use the lower amount of flour to start with and add more only if the dough is really too sticky.
    3. 3
Add yeast mixture to flour and mix.
    4. 4
Knead until smooth and elastic. (I use a hand mixer with a kneading attachment.).
    5. 5
Place in greased bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 15 minutes.
    6. 6
Oil your hands and shape the dough into rolls and place in a well-greased pan. I use 2 round non-stick cake pans.
    7. 7
Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rise another 15 minutes.
    8. 8
Bake at 400 for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
    9. 9
Let these cool down before you remove them from the pan or they will likely tear.

On Thanksgiving Day I realized my other dinner roll recipe was not going to make enough and I didn't have any time to start another batch with all the dough rising time it required. So in a pinch I remembered this fast recipe and quickly made some extra rolls. I couldn't believe how fast these came together and they were even better than the other rolls that had to rise much longer. Well, I threw out that other recipe and plan to use this one from now on. Wow! Now I can make nice dinner rolls in the time it takes to prepare the rest of any other meal plan. This is revolutionary for me! Thanks much! P.S. I used about 2/3 white flour to 1/3 whole wheat flour and it still looked and tasted great!

These were so easy to make! They were just what I was looking for to go with some beef veggie soup. They came out very light.

This recipe is perfect for the time conscious. I love fresh baked bread rolls but never had enough time to make them. This is so quick and easy and so very light. I love the sweet flavour and they compliment a spicy vegetable soup and a curry so well. Thanks so much for posting. This is now a firm favourite. :)
