Better Homes' Cappuccino

"Very simple to prepare and no cappuccino maker required! From Better Homes New Cook Book. My coffeemaker of choice is a Bialetti stainless espresso maker from Italy: http://www.bialettishop.com/MusaMain.htm. Actually, I use the espresso maker to brew any type of coffee."

directions

  • *Note: amount of filtered water and coffee needed for this recipe is estimated depending on the type of coffeemaker you use.
  • Brew the coffee. If possible, please use filtered water to prepare the coffee.
  • In the meantime, in a small chilled mixing bowl, (preferably metal) whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until soft peaks form-the tips will curl.
  • Pour the brewed coffee into cups.
  • Spoon the whipped cream onto the coffee. You don't have to stir the whipped cream as it will "melt" into the coffee from the heat.
  • Garnish with orange zest, if desired sprinkle with a little bit of cardamom and add one cinnamon stick per cup (the "stirrer" aka swizzle stick).
  • Each serving equals about 3 ounces.

  1. I cannot find crème double here, which would be the German heavy cream, so I just used whipping cream. It was extremely good, though. I used powdered erythritol instead of sugar, which is 30% less sweet than sugar, and it was perfect. Thanks for sharing :) Made for Beverage Anyone?

  2. A really good cappaccuino. It was a little too sweet for me, but otherwise a nice cappuccino that we enjoyed on our deck this morning. I'll leave the orange zest off next time (just personal preference that I don't care to have such things in my beverages), but loved the touch of cardamom. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Cookgirl. Made for 2014 Culinary Quest (Italy).

  3. I enjoyed this lovely coffee very much. Love the flavor of the orange, cinnamon and cardamom together, it made a nice mellow cup of coffee. It was quick and easy to make. I added the orange and cinnamon into the coffee and garnished with a dusting of fresh ground cardamom. This was made for Culinary Quest - 2014 - for the suitcase gourmets

  4. I used Splenda instead of sugar and didn't have an orange in the house but everything else was as ask. Very nicely flavored with the cardamom. Made for Ramadan Tag.
