  1. This sauce is fantastic.. As simple as it is, its pretty flavorful - and you know what? The texture and flavor is EXACTLY like the mild red table sauce they serve at a Mex place we goto for lunch. Our toppings were the refried beans from recipe #134841, lettuce, tomato and this sauce.. and topping it with parmesan was different for us - and it worked great! Will definitely be doing this again and again - thanks!

  2. We really liked this. We normally go for heat and this is mild. Went great with the CHUY'S HATCH NEW MEXICAN GREEN CHILE SAUCE (posted here). That has some heat so the mix was perfect. I’ll make again for sure. I didn’t have a 16 ounce can of whole tomatoes so I used Mexican stewed and Mexican oregano. Yum! I skipped the Parmesan on the tostadas, used green chile cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses.

Tweaks

  1. Run this through the mini food processor for a smooth finish. I added in chopped jalapeños this time. So good.
