Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour batter into greased and lined 13"x9" pan. Bake 30 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean; let cool 15 minutes. Invert onto cooling rack; let cool completely. Trim cake to level. Halve cake horizontally.
Coat 1 cake layer with preserves; top with remaining layer. Using 3" oval cookie cutter, cut out 16 cakes; place on rack set in baking sheet.
Reserve 1 tablespoon frosting. Stir food coloring into remaining frosting to make grayish swirls; pour over cakes. Chill 10 minutes. Using reserved frosting, attach remaining ingredients to form features. Place zombies on chocolate leaves, if desired.
