Yummy Low Fat Brownies

- 3⁄4 cup flour
- 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
- 1⁄3 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons low-fat sour cream
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon Hersheys Chocolate Syrup
directions
- In bowl, stir and set aside: flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa.
- In a glass bowl: add bittersweet chocolate and butter. Melt over a pot of boiling water. Be careful not to get any water in the chocolate!
- When melted, set aside to cool for 3-4 minutes.
- Whisk into melted chocolate: sour cream, sugar, egg and egg white, and vanilla.
- Fold in flour mixture.
- Stir in Hershey's syrup.
- Put aluminum foil on the bottom of a 8x8 baking pan. Spray with cooking spray. Pour brownie mixture into pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
- Take out of oven and let it cool for about an hour before taking out of pan to cut into squares (They mentioned if you take them out without cooling, it won't get as moist).

These were chocolately, moist brownies. I served them for dessert without telling anyone they were low fat. My son and husband had at least 4 brownies each. I didn't have any light sour cream on hand-so I used black forest flavored yogurt as a substitute. I will be making these again. Thanks for sharing :-)

These are delicious brownies. I substituted Greek yogurt because I didn't have sour cream. Also, I added 1 1/2 tsp. espresso powder (mixed in to warm Hershey syrup) to enhance the chocolate flavor. My brownies took considerably longer to bake than the recommended time, but when finished, the fudgy texture was perfect. Thank you so much for a terrific recipe.

I saw these on America's Test Kitchen and couldn't stop thinking about them:) So...When I took them out of the oven and they looked a little ho hum I was disappointed, but only until I cut into them, at which point I said, and I hope I don't offend anyone here, "Holy Crap!" These brownies are amazing, truly, truly amazing for less than 150 calories and truly amazing if they were 250. You must try them. Now I need to find the will to eat only one.

I live in Florida and love it here. (We could do without the lovebugs and misquito's though...) My favorite pastime is just getting out of the house and doing something; seeing a game, going for a bike ride, or just going for a walk or reading outside. (I get sloth-like if I stay indoors too long). I love Cooks Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen and buy their magazines and cookbooks often.
