- 1 (500 g) package penne pasta
- 1 lb extra lean ground beef
- 2 (10 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
- water, for soup preparation
- 200 g cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
- 1 pinch chili powder
- 1 pinch cumin
- 1 pinch dried thyme
- 1 pinch dried basil
- 1 pinch dried oregano
- 1 pinch dried parsley
- 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a large casserole dish (I use 3 qt.).
- Brown the beef in a skillet, crumbling up into small pieces.
- Once that is started, prepare the pasta and soup according to package directions.
- Drain the beef.
- Put all seasonings into the soup and stir so that they mix in nicely.
- Pour the pasta, beef, and seasoned soup into the casserole dish. Add half of the shredded cheese and mix.
- Bake in the oven, covered, for about 20 minutes.
- Take out of the oven, stir to redistribute the soup, and sprinkle the rest of the cheese on the top, for a nice cheesy coating.
- Put back in the oven uncovered for 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and melted nicely, but not overdone.
