"This recipe comes from Melting Pot Potluck. It was put together to announce the arrival of a new pastor and his wife. Origin: Canada. The amount will depend on the size of cookie cutter used. Cooking time was not given so I tried to guess."

ingredients

• 4 cups flour
• 1 1⁄2 cups brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1 cup shortening
• 1 egg
• 2 tablespoons vinegar
• 1 tablespoon vanilla

directions

1. Mix all ingredients together until a soft dough is formed. Roll out lightly and cut with cookie cutters. Bake in moderate oven (325*) until light brown.
