ingredients
- 3 1⁄2 cups sugar
- 1 1⁄2 cups shortening
- 29 ounces pumpkin puree
- 1 cup water
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 4 2⁄3 cups sifted flour
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons salt
directions
- Blend sugar and shortening.
- Stir in pumpkin, water and eggs.
- Add dry ingredients, mixing well.
- Pour mixture into three greased and floured baking pans.
- Bake in a 350 degree oven for 60 minutes. Poke with tooth pick to see if it’s done.
- Let rest for a few minutes and then remove from pans and let cool on a wire rack.
- Find someone else to clean up the mess ;-).
