ingredients
- 20 ounces lean ground turkey
- 1 large Spanish onion, diced
- 1 stick celery, diced
- 1 small carrot, grated fine
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 bay leaves
- 2 tablespoons thyme
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 2 (28 ounce) cans dei fratelli tomato sauce
- pepper
- 1 cup piave cheese, grated
- 1⁄2 cup virgin olive oil
directions
- In large skillet brown turkey meat on at least one side in half the olive oil.
- Add carrot , onion ,garlic,celery , and herbs.Cook till tender.
- Add sauce and remaining olive oil . Stir and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes.
- Pepper to taste.
- When serving over favorite noodles top with the piave cheese.

Perfect! Dei Fratelli sauce is so tasty. I made as directed, except used celery salt in place of celery (didn't have any), 1 teaspoon each of dried thyme & oregano (in place of the fresh amounts), and a generous pinch of both parsley & red pepper flakes. Also to note: I omitted all olive oil and did not miss a thing! It was still very flavorful and glad to save the calories. This made a lot, ate half and froze the rest for another time. Thanks!
