Shrimp Marinara over Pasta

- 8 ounces linguine
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1⁄4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1⁄4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 3⁄4 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

- In a 10 inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and saute for about one minute.
- Add herbs and seasonings, allowing dried herbs to "bloom" in the oil for a few seconds. Add the tomatoes and their juices.
- Stir and taste for seasoning. Bring tomatoes to a simmer, cover, and simmer over medium-low heat while pasta cooks, about 10 minutes or so.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions.
- About five minutes before you are ready to serve, stir the shrimp into the tomato sauce and cook until shrimp are pink and firm, about 5 minutes.
- Divide drained pasta into two pasta bowls and spoon sauce over pasta. Serve at once.
