- 2 lbs sirloin beef, trimmed, cut into cubes
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons fresh garlic, minced
- 1⁄4 cup vegetable oil
- 8 ounces beef broth
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 4 tablespoons mild chili powder, Gebhardt brand
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons dark chili powder, Pasilla
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons dark chili powder, New Mexico
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons cumin
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons vinegar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon oregano
- 1⁄2 teaspoon pepper
- 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne
- 1⁄4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
directions
- Heat oil in large deep skillet.
- Add beef, onion and garlic. Cook until meat is lightly browned.
- Stir in remaining ingredients.
- Simmer, covered, for 2 hours stirring occasionally.
- Garnish with sour cream and/or cheddar cheese if desired.
