Regal Kielbasa Squares

"I was looking for a different way to prepare kielbasa and found this recipe in an old Yankee Magazine. Very tasty and very filling!"

  • Preheat Oven to 350.
  • Peel and boil the potatoes until tender.
  • Whip with 1/4 cup of butter and the half-and-half.
  • Set Aside.
  • In a small pan, melt 1 stick of butter and cook onion until tender.
  • Add sauerkraut and heat through.
  • Set Aside.
  • Mix farmers cheese with eggs in a small bowl.
  • Set Aside.
  • In a pan or microwave, melt 1 stick of butter.
  • Layer 2 sheets of phyllo dough in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  • Brush phyllo sheets with melted butter.
  • Layer 1/3 of the mashed potatoes, 1/3 of cheese mixture, 1/3 of sauerkraut mixture, and top with 1/3 of thinly sliced kielbasa.
  • Top with 2 more sheets of phyllo.
  • Repeat layering 2 more times, making sure to butter all phyllo sheets.
  • Top with 2 more sheets of buttered phyllo.
  • Bake for 30 minutes until golden brown in color.
  • Cut into squares and serve.
