Peanut Butter Schmier

ingredients

• 1 1⁄4 cups brown sugar
• 3⁄4 cup white sugar
• 1⁄3 cup light corn syrup (KARO)
• 1 cup water
• 1 (18 ounce) jar peanut butter

directions

1. Boil together for 5 minutes---cool.
2. mix in peanut butter, just enough until right spreading consistency.

This recipe tastes exactly like the schmier from Bird In Hand Village in Lancaster, except it's less expensive! Ordering though Amish is expensive by mail, so I looked for a recipe I can make at home. Found this recipe, tried it, and gave samples to co-workers and they loved it. I didn't have light Karo, so I used 1/6 cup of dark karo and it turned out just fine. I recommend this recipe for someone that doesn't want to be alot of money on having jars of schmier shipped to them. Now I can make as much as I want for a fraction on the price!
