ingredients

• 1 cup soft shortening
• 1 cup white sugar
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 cup peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
• 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 cup rolled oats (quick or old fashioned)

directions

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Have ungreased cookie.
2. sheets ready.
3. Beat together in a mixing bowl, shortening and sugars.
4. until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating.
5. well after each addition. Blend in peanut butter.
6. Mix dry ingredients together and stir into batter add.
7. rolled oats. Shape dough to form small 1-inch balls.
8. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 2-inches apart.
9. With a floured fork press each ball into criss cross pattern.
10. Press with fork tongs 1 way and then across. Bake in oven.
11. for 12 minutes or until light brown.
