Over-the-Top Broadway Brownie Bars

"These are over the top. If you're a chocolate lover, it's going to be worth the extra time to make this. For me personally, I don't care for chocolate so it was a little rich. It says to chill it, but I didn't wait for that. I liked it warm out of the oven. Recipe courtesy of Taste of Home."

directions

  • Preheat oven to 350. In a small bowl, combine first 6 ingredients until smooth and set aside.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and chocolate. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  • Stir in eggs and vanilla. Add sugar, flour, baking powder, and nuts, stirring until blended.
  • Spread batter into a 13x9 inch bakin pan coated with cooking spray (I don't use cooking spray at all--I use my butter wrappers to grease the pan).
  • Spread filling over batter. For topping, in a small bowl, combine chocolate chips and nuts and sprinkle over filling.
  • Bake until almost set, about 28 minutes. Sprinkle with marshmallows and bake 2 minutes longer.
  • For frosting, in a large saucepan, heat butter, milk, cream cheese, and chocolate until melted, stirring until smooth.
  • Remove from heat and stir in confectioners' sugr and vanilla.
  • Immediately drizzle over marshmallows.
  • Chill well and cut into bars (I ate them warm and skipped that part).
