Brownie
- 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 2 teaspoons pure orange extract
- 1 teaspoon grated orange zest

Glaze
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add butter, eggs, orange extract, and orange zest and beat with a handheld electric mixer until well blended.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until light golden brown and set.
- Remove from oven and pierce top of entire cake with a fork.
- Glaze: Combine all ingredients in a bowl, stirring until smooth.
- Pour glaze over cake.
- Cool cake and cut into squares.

Great recipe! I made this for my office cookoff competition (the contest required participants to use orange in a recipe) and won 2nd place! They really do come out with the consistancy of brownies. Very tasty! Note: Be sure to spray the pan very well, they are very moist and can stick if you don't grease the pan.

My grandkids loved these, they did not last a day. I found them too sweet for me as I am trying to avoid sugar. I have been trying to come up with an alternative to the amount of sugar and calories. I added all the nutritional information from each ingredient and came up with approx 54 calories for a one inch square. And you do not want to know the rest! But this was more like cake to me, but oh so yummy. I thought about doing the lemon as another poster said but have not got around too it. I did however use one cup sugar on one cup Altern sweetener instead and move over butter instead of real butter. That turned out more cake like than the original but tasty, it did not have the wow factor these had. I give these and triple A

My favorite cookbook is one from Barefoot Contessa-I have prepared many of her recipes; they are easy to prepare and come out nicely. I also love to watch Foodnetwork TV when time allows!
Pet peeves? I live in NYC and my kitchen is really small. I would love to have a huge kitchen-that is my only pet peeve!
