Cake
- 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 1⁄4 cups boiling water
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 1⁄4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Topping
- 1⁄2 cup margarine
- 1⁄2 cup sugar
- 1⁄4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup coconut
directions
- Grease and flour 8x10 pan. If double recipe use 9x13 pan.
- Mix in a bowl 1/2 cup margarine, oatmeal, and boiling water.
- Let set for 20 minutes.
- Then add remaining cake ingredients from eggs to cinnamon and mix thoroughly.
- Pour into pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Take cake out of the oven and start the topping.
- Make topping by mixing margarine, sugar, and vanilla in a sauce pan.
- Bring ingredients to a boil.
- Add vanilla, walnuts, and coconut and stir until mixed.
- Pour over warm cake.
- Put under broiler in oven until browned.
