- Yields:
-
25 trees
ingredients
- 1⁄4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, melted
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons half-and-half cream
- 3 cups coconut
- green food coloring (optional)
- 3 ounces chocolate, for dipping
- decorative candies (silver balls)
directions
- Combine all ingredients well, except chocolate, using as much food coloring as desired.
- While 'dough' is still warm and pliable, take about a tablespoon amount (decide how large you would like your trees) and with fingertips, shape into an upsidedown cone/a standing fir-tree.
- Do not try rolling. Squeeze your amount firmly so it adheres toegther, then stand one end on work surface and shape into a fir-tree, pressing fairly firmly.
- Do not make tip too sharp in order to accomodate the decorative ball later.
- When all the 'dough' is shaped, melt chocolate and dip tops of trees.
- While chocolate is still soft, place silver ball on the tip.
- A thought: would white chocolate look like snow?

They taste great and looked nice but it was pretty messy, definately not something for my son to help with. I used green food dye and red & green sprinkles and chilled them when I was done. If someone can let me know how to make rolling and dipping them less messy I could definately give a higher rating. Maybe next time I'll just make them into little balls to dip into the chocolate.

A Canadian citizen, I really have no permanant home as of now. Raised by missionary parents and now on a missions program with my husband, I've been all over Europe, though not to every country, yet!
Its been fun figuring out what I can do with the native groceries...once I've figured out what they all are:) Fortunately they don't differ too much throughout Europe.

Hubby in Troyes, Fr..an enchanting town!
I am fascinated by each culture's food traditions. I always thought I was half-way brave when it came to trying out different dishes until I saw an old "Bizarre Foods - Phillippines". Wow.
I haven't posted many recipes because I realised I don't measure out everything the same way each time and so don't have many recipes that are precise enough to post. I sure enjoy trying all yours!

My husband
I've been able to find EVERYthing I need here on Zaar. Where I live now, I can hardly get anything, so I have to make everything from scratch. (I mean non-essentials like pancake syrup, guacamole, papier mache glue, bbq sauce, etc)
